LITTLE FALLS—Lori Hempstead, CNP, VP of Patient Care, spoke at a Lunch & Learn Series about Stroke Awareness.
Ms. Hempstead discussed the warning signs of having a TIA/mini stroke, and the difference between Ischemic (clot) and Hemorrhagic (bleeding) strokes. She went on to say that studies have shown that by administrating a Tissue Plasminogen Activator (tPA), as soon as symptoms occur, the amount of damage to the heart muscle can be reduced and saves lives.
Lunch & Learn Series are held each month at Little Falls Hospital to address community health needs and share improvements regarding expanded access and increased availability of services.
The next Lunch & Learn Series will be held on June 26, 2008 on Skin Cancer presented by Hillary A. Kelly-Stephens, FNP-C. For More Information contact the Community Relations Department at 315.823.5326.
